On his podcast Rocket Hour with Apple Music, Elton John hailed Turnstile‘s “SEEIN’ STARS” as one of his favourite tracks all year. And John talks about it quite a bit in detail with the Turnstile vocalist himself, Brendan Yates.
Having Yates on for a chat about the song itself, how it came together, and performing it live, the snippet of the interview uploaded to social media sees Elton John praising Yates and Turnstile extensively: “What a pleasure it is, because your album, Never Enough, is one of my favourite albums of the year. In fact, your track, “Seeing Stars” is on my top 20 tracks of the year,” John says in the clip, the interview taking place digitally.
Continuing on, he goes on to say that he was “thrilled” for the band “because the album, Never Enough, is such a great record, it really is a record you should be so proud of. I still have a five-CD player, and the album is in my five-CD player all the time,” he continues.
The last portion of the snippet shows them saying their goodbyes, with John telling Yates, “Keep making the music you’re making, because it’s fucking amazing,” and Yates telling John he’d coordinate something with him in London.
John tells him, “I’ll buy you dinner.”
And Yates responds with, “I’ll buy you dessert,” which earns a good ol’ chuckle from John.
