This 1988 Ford Mustang ASC McLaren convertible is #1,519 of 1,806 built between 1987 and 1990. Its first owner purchased it from Dick McQuiston Ford in Flat Rock, Michigan, and the current owner acquired it in 2008. The car is powered by a 302ci V8 mated to a four-speed automatic transmission and finished in black paint over tan leather. Equipment includes fog lights, 15″ basketweave wheels, a tan soft top, front and rear spoilers, air conditioning, cruise control, and an aftermarket head unit. This Mustang ASC McLaren shows 6k miles and is now offered in New York with manufacturer’s literature, ASC McLaren memorabilia, a warranty identification card, a Marti report, a clean Carfax report, and a clean New York title in the seller’s name.
The car was first delivered as an LX coupe finished in black and was sent to ASC for conversion into a two-seat convertible with a manually operated tan soft top. As part of the conversion, the exterior was refinished, and additional ASC-installed equipment includes a hard convertible boot cover, tinted taillights, front and rear spoilers, and revised lower body styling. There is a tear in the soft top.

The MSW 15″ basketweave wheels are wrapped in 225/60 Goodyear Eagle VR60 tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features tan leather ASC McLaren-branded bucket seats along with a matching lower dashboard, center console, door panels, and carpets. ASC McLaren models were not equipped with a rear seat. Equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, power mirrors, cruise control, and an aftermarket head unit. The seller notes that the air conditioning does not blow cold.

A dash plaque notes this example as #1,519.

The two-spoke tilting steering wheel is equipped with cruise control buttons and frames an 85-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 6k miles.

The 302ci V8 features electronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 225 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission and a Traction-Lok rear axle. Additional photos showing structural reinforcements added by ASC McLaren can be seen in the gallery.

Manufacturer’s literature, ASC McLaren memorabilia, a warranty identification card, and a Marti report accompany the car.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other damage.
